Some Flowtown customers are achieving a staggering 300% or higher open and click thru rates vs. industry averages.

What follows is a slightly edited version of our chat, the full version of which you can find by doing a twitter search for #mediachat or by clicking here.

@hughmacken : q1 first off tell us a bit about yourself
@ebloch : Young CEO @flowtown , Gator Graduate with 3 passions: Tech, Marketing and Finance. Started 1st bis at 13 and never looked back.

@hughmacken: q2 so tell us @ flowtown. what problem does it solve?

@ebloch: Every person has a story; we help you learn about it. never before have people been sharing so much about themselves so publicly.

@hughmacken: q3 & how does their story & flowtown tie into email marketing?

@ebloch: we make email more personal by attaching stories to an email address then allow you to easily target slices of your customer list

@hughmacken: q4 fewer emails are being opened nowadays. so i’d imagine that segmentation increases open & read rates?

@ebloch: totally. @flowtown customers get 3x+ higher opens/click rates vs. industry averages. quick example -> http://bit.ly/bRB7ab
@hughmacken: q5 so who r your typical customers? small biz? big biz? client-side? agency?

@ebloch: @flowtown has 2 main customer types: small businesses (50% of leads/sales online) and agencies.

@hughmacken: q6 so what do i need in order to leverage your platform? what if i use @mailchimp or @VR4SmallBiz do you integrate w those?

@ebloch: all you need is a customer (email) list. Yep! We integrate with @MailChimp-> http://bit.ly/c35tbt

@hughmacken: q8 ok let’s talk privacy in gen & in rel to Flowtown. r you getting lots of pushback saying this is too “stalkerish”

@ebloch: @flowtown we collect almost the same data anyone can find in a Google search, so there’s been little to no pushback.

@hughmacken: q10 your favorite blogs & then final thoughts (just pls don’t shoot me😉

@ebloch: My favorite blogs: avc.com, simoleonsense.com, steveblank.com, 37signals.com/svn, techmeme.com, flowtown.com/blog😉

@hughmacken: @ebloch ok, thx, so much more to talk about so little time. thanks so much for all your time today.

@ebloch: @hughmacken totally my pleasure. really enjoyed! we’ll have to do part 2 sometime😉thx for the opportunity!

So you've been running a display ad campaign and you're click thru rate is lower than you'd like it to be. What to do? Here are three tips for boosting click thru rates on display ad banners: Add animation Add a clear call to action button Split test different creative variations Regarding 1 and 2, if you have a designer on staff, I highly recommend using either bannersnack.com or canva.com. Both are super easy to use. Bannersnack will allow you to create fully animated html5 banners with solid call to action buttons that are (this is very important) fully compliant with ad serving platforms like the one we use to allow proper click tracking.

It sounds simple enough but it's easier said than done: If you want to drive optimal conversion results for a digital ad campaign, focus on the factors that will help you deliver those conversion results. In digital advertising, like it or not, the most important factor affecting results couldn't be simpler. It's traffic and non-sales conversion events, not sales conversions. For a display advertising campaign, 0.1% is a respectable click thru rate. That works out to 1 click per 1000 ad displays. Facebook ads often generate click thru rates that are much higher than that but keep in mind that you need to take Facebook’s click thru stats with a grain of salt as they […] The post Display Advertising: Is 0.1% a Good Click Thru Rate? appeared first on VMR. Companies large and small are often criticized for acting like inexperienced children or sophomoric students in their approach to social media.  But I’d argue that in some cases, the former, child-like approach, may not actually be as foolish – or childish – as it sounds.
